Originally from Canberra, Peter began learning the trumpet at age nine, initially with Dominic Lindsay.
In 1999 Peter completed a Bachelor of Music with honors at the Canberra School of Music where he studied with Dan Mendelow.
Following this Peter traveled to the USA to continue his studies and broaden his horizons. Whilst there his primary teachers were Michael Sachs and James Darling both from the Cleveland Orchestra. In 2002 Peter completed a Master of Music degree in Trumpet performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and was awarded the Bernard Adelstein performance prize. Following this Peter took up a position working with the Cleveland Baroque Orchestra.
During his travels Peter has had the opportunity to perform with such ensembles as the Cleveland Orchestra, the New World Symphony, the Canton Symphony and the National Repertory Orchestra in the USA.
Within Australia, Peter has worked with the Sydney Symphony, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony and Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and the Sydney Philharmonia amongst others.
He is currently serving as acting Principal Trumpet with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra and is a member of the Australian Baroque Brass and the Australian Brass Virtuosi. Peter is on staff at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and several other schools in Sydney.
