David Musk was born in the South of England, and tudied at the Junior Guildhall until the end of his secondary education. While there, he won the Guildhall Brass prize, and upon leaving school in 1994, David took up a place at the senior Guildhall School to study for a Bachelor of Music Performance.
Here he studied under Paul Cosh of the BBC Symphony, John Miller of the Philharmonia, and Anne McAneney from the London Philharmonic Orchestra. It was during his studies at the Guildhall that David began playing the Natural Trumpet. It was offered as an optional extra, and David began lessons with Steven Keavey and David Staff.
David continued his studies on the Natural Trumpet throughout college and performed a wide variety of works with the early music department of the Guildhall during his post-graduate course.
After graduating from the Guildhall School with honours, David worked around London as freelance. During this time, he performed with ensembles such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, and the London Pro Arte Orchestra.
In 2001 David moved to Melbourne and began casual work with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, as well as taking on a number of brass teaching positions. Since then David has also performed with other orchestras such as the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria.
