Anna Sandstrom completed her Bachelor of Music at the Newcastle Conservatorium in 2002 and has since been specializing in 17th and 18th century Italian vocal music.
She premiered a series of reconstructed Serenatas by Alessandro Scarlatti and his family, at Newcastle conservatorium in 2002-2003. Continuing on this theme with The Tall Poppeas, Anna appeared in the “Beyond the Moon” June concert series, and the Melbourne tour of their original Opera “Troppo Amore” featured in the 2004 Melbourne Fringe Festival. Anna appeared as soloist in two concerts of Monteverdi with the Sydney Philharmonia motet, at the Newcastle Conservatorium and the Art Gallery of N.S.W. Anna was the Soprano soloist for a concert of Italian Baroque music with the Sirius Ensemble in the Barossa Music Festival 2003.
She was also privileged to appear as the soprano soloist with the Australian Baroque Brass in November of 2004. In December of that year Anna appeared with the Song Company for their Christmas concert series, which toured NSW and featured a recorded broadcast on ABC Classic FM.
She currently holds a soprano position with the highly acclaimed Choir of St James King St Sydney, having started her career as a member of the Christ Church Cathedral Choir in Newcastle. She toured Britain with the Newcastle University Chamber Choir in 2000 to sing part of a solo mass for the opening ceremony for the Guild of Church musicians in Canterbury Cathedral, and is featured on the C.D of the tour. “Journey of Celebration”. Anna has enjoyed many performances ranging from Handel's Messiah in 2003 and the Mozart Requiem in 2002 to the Britten Ceremony of Carols in 1997 and the Faire Requiem in 1998 and 2000.
